Kagoshima Prefecture, including its islands, spans 600 kilometers from north to south and is a major potato-producing region. Potatoes are harvested and shipped in a relay from January to May.

Kagoshima Prefecture is Japan’s largest producer of broad beans. Using its warm climate, it ships them nationwide from December as a springtime vegetable. These beans are large, flavorful, and sweet.
